5. Death Certificates Indexes

Microfiche Indexes to South Carolina Death Certificates, 1915-1949, are located in a small metal box to the left of the copy machine. They are divided into 5 time groups, each in alphabetical order.

• Select the microfiche index card for the last name you are seeking,
  
  
• View the card on one of the microfiche viewers on the left wall of the Microfilm Reading Room. 
  
  
• Once you have found the year of death and the certificate number, go to Drawers 222 - 224 to find the death certificate.
